My lessons are structured, engaging, and fully tailored to each student’s individual needs, with a strong focus on building confidence as well as academic progress in English.
I have 2 years of full-time secondary school teaching experience in New Zealand, alongside my current role as a supply teacher in London. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts in Politics, International Relations, and Communications, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Secondary School Teaching. This background has given me strong subject knowledge in English, literacy development, and communication skills, as well as the ability to adapt quickly to different learners and classroom environments.
In my lessons, I use a clear and supportive structure: a warm-up activity to activate prior knowledge, focused teaching input, guided practice, and independent tasks to consolidate learning. I adapt my teaching style depending on the student, using interactive, engaging methods for younger learners and more exam-focused, analytical approaches for older students.
My strengths as a teacher include patience, clarity, and the ability to explain complex ideas in simple, accessible ways. I am encouraging and supportive, and I aim to create a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and learning from them. I also place a strong emphasis on literacy skills such as reading comprehension, spelling, grammar, and structured writing.
Above all, my goal is to help students become more confident, independent learners who feel capable and motivated in English.
