Angela Samson

I’m an experienced British tutor based in London, with tutoring experience dating back to 2011. I specialise in English, Maths and 7+, 9+ and 11+ entrance preparation, particularly for pupils applying to competitive London independent schools.

My lessons are tailored to each individual child and usually combine focused teaching with practical activities and exam-style questions. In English, I work on areas including comprehension, creative writing, grammar, vocabulary and literacy, while Maths lessons focus on developing strong foundations, problem solving and confidence with unfamiliar questions.

I’m TEFL qualified and have additional training and experience supporting pupils with dyslexia and literacy difficulties, so I’m comfortable adapting my teaching style to different learning needs.

My approach is friendly, patient and encouraging. I use humour, games and real-world examples where appropriate and want children to feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. For entrance-exam pupils, I aim to build confidence and exam technique alongside academic ability.

I teach children across a range of ages and abilities and have worked with families both in the UK and internationally. My ultimate aim is to help pupils become more confident, capable and independent learners, and to provide parents with the results they require to ensure their child continues down a path of high quality, lifelong learning.

I also believe that a positive relationship between tutor and pupil makes a huge difference. I take time to understand what motivates each child, celebrate their progress and identify areas that need extra attention, helping them develop a genuine enjoyment of learning.
