Clemencia Isabel Longthorne

I’m a young recently qualified English Teacher with QTS. I teach ages 11-19, with subject knowledge in Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. I also have experience with primary school students and adults, with a good understanding of exam preparation, and strong reading, writing and spelling skills.

Each of my lessons are personalised and tailored to each of my student’s needs. I think it is important to build good relationships with my students as it grows their confidence more to learn, especially when faced with the challenges of reading, writing, spelling, and analytical skills. I use relevant activities and guided practice to deepen their knowledge and understanding.

I am patient, friendly, adaptive and encouraging. For example, I am always exercising positive praise and ensuring that students know their efforts are still commendable despite not quite getting everything correct. In addition, I will adapt my then lesson, or next lesson with the student, to fit the needs, confusions and errors that need developing further. This allows me to make sure that they have understood it once the lesson has been adapted, and also ready to move on to the next lessons of learning.

Furthermore, I also have a lot of experience with students of SEND and EAL, and am comfortable in dealing with any learning difficulties, or trying new methods to help them with any struggles.
