I use traditional methods: alphabetical (phonemic knowledge, the analysis of words), reading and
comprehension, and vocabulary. We also study short literary and cultural texts. I have worked within very
diverse levels: classes with students whom had never set foot in a school and did not know how to read or
write in their own language, and students with advanced academic degrees. Through those experiences, I
know people assimilate information differently. I develop programs aimed to support multiple learning
styles: visual, oral, verbal and physical (kinesthetic). I want to make sure the kinesthetic student is not left
to only reading essays and the oral student is not overwhelmed with images.
I like to involve students in the learning process with the "Communicative Language Teaching”
(CTP), an approach that requires the use of language to perform a specific task. This is a pedagogy in
which the language learners are engaged in communication. The actions during the exchanges are
meaningful and goal oriented. It is beneficial to visual, oral, verbal and physical styles of learning. This
approach also encourages the students to solve problems, complete projects and make decisions, using
critical thinking.
