Beginning with setting goals and getting an understanding of what stage the student is at sets the groundwork for success. From there, I use a variety of teaching methods to best suit the learning style of the student. Allowing them to have the one to one support that may be limited at school helps to understand how the student learns best, and I work to utilise those teaching methods in aiding the student's progress. If there is a goal (exam, GCSE, grade), then working towards that on a timeline can be a major focus, ensuring stepwise progress through regular reviews of how the student is doing. Regarding GCSE or A-level the lessons aim to be curriculum-focussed and provide clarity to the student as to what they do and don't need to know. Most importantly, I value the student's confidence in speaking up about what they don't understand and require more explaining or focus on, that is what I am here for.
