My lessons are tailored to each student’s individual needs and learning style. We begin by identifying any areas of difficulty and building a strong understanding of the underlying concepts before progressing to more challenging questions. I believe that a solid foundation is essential for success in mathematics, so I focus on ensuring students understand the “why” behind each method rather than simply memorising procedures.
Lessons typically involve a combination of clear explanations, worked examples, guided practice, and exam-style questions. I place a strong emphasis on problem-solving skills and exam technique, using past-paper questions to help students become familiar with the types of questions they are likely to encounter.
Having achieved an A grade in A-Level Mathematics and currently studying Electrical and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Edinburgh, I use Mathematics regularly in my studies, particularly in areas such as mechanics, dynamics, and applied problem-solving. This allows me to provide practical insights and explain concepts from multiple perspectives.
My goal is to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where students can ask questions confidently, develop their understanding, and build the skills needed to achieve their academic goals.
I believe that understanding is far more valuable than memorisation. By focusing on the reasoning behind mathematical methods, students can approach new and challenging questions with confidence rather than relying on memorised steps. This not only improves exam performance but also develops problem-solving skills that are useful far beyond the classroom and helps students become more independent, analytical, and resilient learners, capable of tackling unfamiliar problems with greater confidence and success.
