I have a strong academic background in Computer Science, having studied the subject at GCSE and A-level before completing a BSc in Computer Science. I am currently studying an MSc in User Experience Engineering.

My lessons are designed around the individual student rather than following the same approach for everyone. At the beginning, I will identify which areas the student is confident with, which topics need improvement, and what their school or exam board currently requires. From there, lessons can focus on building understanding, practising questions, improving programming ability or preparing for exams.

Students are also welcome to come to lessons with their own specific needs, such as homework, coursework practice, topics they are struggling with in school, or questions they have been unable to solve. I can guide them through these step by step while making sure they understand the underlying concepts and methods, rather than simply giving them the answer.

I aim to explain Computer Science in a clear and practical way. For programming topics, this can involve writing and working through code together, debugging examples and gradually allowing the student to solve problems independently. For theory topics, I can use diagrams, examples and exam-style questions to make concepts easier to understand and remember.

For GCSE students, I can work directly from their exam board specification and use relevant past-paper questions so that lessons remain closely connected to what they will be assessed on.

I am also happy to teach younger or beginner students who want to learn programming or develop their general Computer Science knowledge.

My aim is to create a relaxed one-to-one environment where students are comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and working through difficult concepts at their own pace. Lessons can be adapted depending on whether the student needs regular weekly support, help with a particular topic, assistance with schoolwork or focused revision before an exam.
