Christopher Moreno

I have four years of teaching English in both university classrooms and abroad. I am TEFL-certified, and have a Master's degree in sociocultural anthropology. I am an effective online instructor with years of experience in lesson planning and preparing materials that cater to the needs and goals of my students. In my classes you will start off by completing an assessment of your current skills, and what your learning objectives are for our classes. This will help me gauge where you are, and what kind of lessons I can prepare for you. From there, I will work to ensure that you are speaking most of the time in our classes, and help you with building your confidence and your pronunciation. One of my core principals is to always help you find ways to use what we practice in our classes outside, in the real world, where you can see yourself grow and feel satisfied with our lessons. My experience as an educator started when I lived in Cambodia, and started volunteering as an English instructor at a small organization. From there, I returned to school, studied at UC Berkeley, and pursued a Ph.D. at the University of California San Diego. Throughout my entire career as an academic, teaching, and empowerment through education has been one of the driving forces behind my motivation. I am thrilled to be able to return to teaching English as a foreign language to new learners, now with the skills I have developed in graduate school.
