I believe that learning is a personal experience to each individual and their own preferences. If the find powerpoint slides like one bubble of information I will tailor my lessons specifically to way in which I believe will best benefit them. My lessons will consist of interactive teaching and activities where the student can take part when comfortable. I will be ensuring that a student doesn't leave the lesson feeling confused or worried, because learning shouldn't feel overwhelming - especially in the field of biology there is so much interest to it which is overlooked due to the stress of memorisation. I want my students to know that memorisation goes hand in hand with understanding, making biology less stressful and more enjoyable! GCSE biology is much more than just an exam at the end of year 11, I want to help students find the joy in learning about human processes and biology around them - not just for success in their exams but also so they can discover if taking biology in their future steps will be right for them, something which most people studying GCSEs aren't prepared for as they are blinded by exams and grades. Personally, I achieved an average of Grade 9 across all of my GCSE subjects and learning how to manipulate the mark scheme is something which is very much underestimated to become a student who can stand out and reach those top marks. In my lessons mark strict mark schemes are the least of your worries!
