My lessons are relaxed, practical and tailored to each student’s level, interests and goals. I usually begin by understanding what the student would like to achieve, then structure the lesson around a combination of demonstration, guided practice and independent work.

For drawing, lessons can focus on observation, proportion, perspective, line, shading, composition and figure drawing. For painting, we can explore colour mixing, tonal values, composition, brushwork and different approaches to building an image. I can also work with students on personal projects, portfolio development or specific techniques they would like to improve.
I encourage students to ask questions and experiment throughout the lesson rather than simply copying a demonstration. I want each session to give them practical skills that they can continue practising independently.

I have a background in Fine Art and Illustration, alongside professional experience in galleries, creative production and visual communication. This allows me to bring both technical knowledge and a broader understanding of contemporary art into my teaching.
Whether a student is a complete beginner, returning to art after a break, or looking to develop their existing skills, I adapt the pace and content of lessons accordingly. My aim is to create a supportive environment where students can develop confidence while finding their own way of working.

I also encourage students to explore different materials and techniques, helping them discover which processes feel most natural to them. Where appropriate, I can introduce references from art history and contemporary practice to give students a wider context for their work and encourage critical thinking about their creative choices.
