I teach using a variety of methods, including traditional and some more novel techniques such as videos, audios, podcasts and music. As each person has different individual learning styles I assess this during the first few sessions to identify how to best deliver the material for the student to gain the best understanding.

Lessons start by giving students the opportunity to ask any questions to clarify or solidify their grasp of previous material before the introduction of a new topic. The lesson is broken into bite size chunks which are interactive with regular recaps. I test the students understanding in an informal way through the use of examples and scenarios to check their comprehension.

I have been able to explain quite complicated legal principles to a vast array of people including children as young as 10 over my years as a practicing solicitor. This ability to explain concepts, theories and topics is a skill I have developed through my PGCE research in enhancing students learning through effective questioning. I love watching that lightbulb moment in people especially when they have previously lacked confidence or belief in their abilities.
