The aim of my lessons is to help students understand the reasons behind the design approach - we will cover the fundamentals of communication and understand the user and audience's needs. Taking a student-centred approach, we will discuss whether you have certain areas you would like to work on, for example learning how to use different softwares, portfolio preparation, reference and research skills, or honing areas of expertise.
Alternatively if you are preparing for exams we can work through areas of the syllabus and I can set briefs that reflect the areas that are to be worked on.
Lessons will involve the basis and history around the design fundamental, we will examine references and consider the brief together. We can discuss different approaches, likely audience and tone of voice to make sure you are clear before working on the brief in preparation for the next lesson. By taking a practical approach and offering constructive feedback, we can simulate real-world client situations that will help build your confidence and prepare you for work in this area.
I have experience helping A level students and junior designers in the following areas: branding, editorial, illustration, art direction, illustration, animation, video editing, advertising, environmental design, packaging, editorial and web design.
If you wish to include any of your work in a portfolio or website, we can also discuss the best way to present the project.
Please do not hesitate to reach out should you have any needs that need to be taken into account to make the lessons more accessible for you - I would be happy to accommodate.
