Hi, my name is Changwan Yu, but you can call me David. I am a Biology tutor with a strong interest in helping students understand science in a clear and approachable way.
I studied Bioscience at King’s College London, where I covered subjects including microbiology, pharmacology, and developing safe medicines. My dissertation focused on L-selectin cleavage in neutrophils and its potential role as a therapeutic target in myocardial infarction. Through my studies, I developed a strong understanding of human biology, disease mechanisms, immune responses, drug action, and medical research.
I also have experience working with children as both a tutor and a social service agent at Wooridongne English School. During my time there, I looked after students after school until the evening and helped them with homework, revision, and daily study routines. I tutored students in Korean, English, Maths, Science, and Social Studies, and often explained difficult topics in a simpler way so they could understand them more easily.
As a social service agent, I helped keep the classroom safe, organised, and comfortable for students. I supported students with their behaviour, encouraged them to stay focused, and responded to minor injuries or health concerns when needed.
I am especially comfortable supporting students with Biology because of my academic background in bioscience and my experience explaining scientific concepts to younger learners. I try to be patient, clear, and supportive, and I want students to feel comfortable asking questions when they do not understand something.
Please feel free to contact me! You will not regret it!
