My lessons are relaxed but focused. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions without feeling judged. I usually start each session by checking in on what's been covered in school that week and where they're feeling less confident, then we work through those areas together rather than just going top to bottom through a textbook. I use Zoom with screen sharing, and I work through problems step by step alongside the student rather than just explaining and moving on. I find this interactive approach helps concepts actually stick. After going through a topic I'll give practice questions on the spot so we can immediately see whether it's landed. I've been tutoring GCSE and A-Level Chemistry and Maths for two years, working with 20+ students, with many improving by up to 3 grades. Every student is different, so I adjust my pace and style depending on whether someone needs more confidence, more rigour, or just someone to make a tricky topic feel less intimidating. At the end of each session I always summarise what we covered and set a few practice questions to work on before next time, so progress doesn't stop when the call ends. I also keep parents updated regularly so everyone knows how things are going and what to focus on next.
