I aim to make my lessons engaging, structured, and tailored to each student’s needs. A typical lesson combines recall, a clear and mutually agreed focus with clear explanations, interactive activities, and regular opportunities to practise speaking, listening, reading, and writing. I place a strong emphasis on communication, helping students build confidence in using French in real-life situations.
Lessons are usually organised around a specific theme or objective, such as mastering a grammar point, developing conversational skills, or preparing for exams. I use a variety of my own considerable bank of resources, in addition to authentic materials, visual aids, and exam-style exercises where appropriate. I also adapt my teaching style accordingly.
I have vast experience teaching a range of levels and abilities, from Key Stage 2 to adults wishing to learn or perfect their competence in an additional language, as well as significant experience of a wide range of different curricula and exam boards. This allows me to support students effectively, whether they are beginners, preparing for assessments, or looking to improve their overall proficiency.
Above all, I strive to create a supportive and motivating environment where students feel comfortable taking risks and make rapid progress.
