My lessons are designed to be structured, supportive, and tailored to each student’s individual learning style. As a Biomedical Sciences student at the The University of Manchester, I have developed a strong understanding of biology and scientific thinking, which I aim to pass on to my students in a clear and engaging way.
At the beginning of our lessons, I usually start by asking the student which topics they would like to focus on or which areas they find most challenging. This helps me tailor the session to their specific needs. I then explain the key concepts step-by-step using clear explanations, diagrams, and real-life examples where possible. My goal is to help students truly understand the material rather than simply memorise it.
During the lesson, I like to include interactive elements such as practice questions, exam-style problems, and short quizzes to check understanding and reinforce learning. This also helps students become more familiar with the types of questions they may encounter in exams. I place particular emphasis on exam technique, including how to structure answers, identify key command words, and maximise marks in longer questions.
I aim to create a relaxed and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and discussing topics they find difficult. I am patient and supportive, and I believe that building confidence is just as important as improving knowledge.
Overall, my lessons focus on strengthening understanding, improving exam performance, and helping students develop effective study strategies that will support them throughout their exams and academic journey.
