My lessons are structured, exam-focused, and highly interactive, with a clear format designed to help students make consistent and measurable progress. Before beginning tuition, I take time to understand each student’s current level, exam board, strengths, and areas for improvement. This allows lessons to be tailored to the individual rather than following a generic approach, ensuring that time is always spent on what will have the greatest impact.

Each lesson typically begins with a short review of previous work, checking understanding and addressing any difficulties or questions. This is followed by focused teaching on a specific topic or exam skill, where concepts are explained clearly and broken down step by step. I place strong emphasis on exam technique throughout, teaching directly from mark schemes and examiner expectations so students understand how marks are awarded and how to structure their answers effectively.

Lessons are highly interactive, with students actively involved at all times. Rather than passively listening, students regularly attempt questions during the session, explain their thinking, and work through problems with guidance. This approach helps build confidence, deepen understanding, and highlight any misconceptions early. Mistakes are treated as an important part of the learning process, and I work with students to identify common errors and develop strategies to avoid them in future exams.

Alongside subject content, I place strong emphasis on study skills and organisation. Many students struggle not because they lack ability, but because they do not have effective revision strategies or consistent routines. I support students in developing realistic revision plans, improving time management, and learning how to revise efficiently between lessons. Where appropriate, I set targeted homework and provide feedback to reinforce learning and track progress.

Drawing on my experience supporting peers academically at both school and university level, I adapt my teaching style to suit each student’s needs, whether they require clearer explanations, more structured practice, or additional support with confidence and motivation. My aim is for every lesson to feel supportive, purposeful, and focused on long-term improvement, helping students approach their studies with greater confidence, organisation, and exam readiness.
