The first session will mainly be about me learning what you need to know and what you know already. Once I have an understanding of this I can tailor each session to your specific needs. The sessions will normally begin with a review of previous content and any work that you may have completed between sessions. There may be work set between sessions however, this will be optional as I understand that some people may not want the extra work. The main bulk of the session will then be about learning the content at a pace that suits the student. This content could be delivered in a few ways, however the main method would likely be me talking through the key concepts with the aide of a powerpoint that I have created especially for the session. The student can feel free to ask questions throughout the presentation or if they would prefer another method of delivery I can change my approach in order to better assist them. The final part of the session would involve working through some example questions and previous exam questions on the topic together in order to show the student what level their understanding needs to be at in order to have a full understanding of the topic. At the very end of the session I will explain what we will be discussing in the following session and also giving the option of further exam questions to be completed as independent learning. I have experience doing this type of tutoring work as I have already tutored maths students at A-level and helped them to achieve grades one or two higher than what they were predicted.
