My lessons are always centered towards the individual young person I am teaching. I ensure that every lesson plan is made to meet the specific needs of every learner by implementing teaching and assessing methods and techniques to ensure the student understands what they are going to learn, why they are going to learn it, and how they will learn. This allows for the young person to feel that the teaching is personal to them, helping with engagement.
Conversation and discussion are my main tools, allowing the young person to ask question and not just answer them. This helps to reassure their confidence and help them to want to learn.
Working with pupils as young as four up to those working at high school level, I have developed a number of different teaching methods which ensure the young person can engage themselves with the work and find something that works for them.
I am well versed with online resources and can use these to provide young people with work if they are unable to attend in person, and I am very able to introduce and solidify young people's digital literacy through my own development of working with computers, both in a professional and social setting.
As a primary teacher by trade, the three aspects of Numberacy, Literacy and Health & Wellbeing are key to my teaching and are something I am very confident teaching and helping young people to engage with. Engaging young people in education can be difficult, but by helping them to find confidence, I am able to help them develop in ways that works for them as individuals.
