I like to start my first session with students asking them basic questions about them and what they want out of the lessons that I provide, thus helping me to understand and cater to their every learning need and goal. The first session is about getting to know one another making everyone feel comfortable and confident for the next lesson.
With every lesson I like to start with a warm up/game exercise to lead into the lesson objectives. This can include a fun song or video and I can ask leading questions, I.e. what the song implies and what do you think today’s lesson will be about?, etc.
We will then explore presentations about the topic of interest, and we can work together and independently worksheets that will be sent to students before every lesson.
I also like to encourage my students to use English language throughout every lesson to help build confidence when learning languages.
Depending on the subject, I like to play virtual games with students like what’s in my shopping cart - where I go into a local supermarket and ask my students to help me look for certain items on my list and place in my shopping cart, thus helping my students to learn names of items and how to shop like a local.
After many lessons I like to offer a guided tour of cities in the UK like London, showing students what the cities look like, what they can see and more, thus helping to create another lesson of practice writing and verbal communication.
