As Head of Music and a dedicated piano specialist, I bring both leadership experience and deep subject expertise to my teaching. I have worked with students across a wide ability range, from complete beginners to advanced pianists preparing for graded examinations, performances and auditions.
My lessons follow a clear, structured format while remaining flexible to individual goals. Each session typically includes technical development (finger strength, coordination and fluency), repertoire study, sight-reading, rhythm work and musical interpretation. Where appropriate, I also integrate music theory naturally into lessons so students understand what they are playing, not just how to play it.
I strongly believe that progress comes from clarity and consistency. Students receive clear practice guidance after every lesson, with achievable weekly targets designed to build steady improvement. I help students develop independent practice habits, which is often the difference between average and excellent progress.
Alongside classical training, I am confident teaching contemporary styles, improvisation and composition. I encourage creativity and musical confidence, especially for younger learners who benefit from variety and enjoyment within structure.
As a school Music leader, I understand curriculum expectations, exam board requirements and long-term progression planning. I apply that same professional standard to private tuition. My aim is not only to help students pass exams, but to develop well-rounded musicians who play with confidence, expression and understanding.
Lessons are supportive, focused and ambitious. Students are challenged appropriately and encouraged to take pride in their development.
