My lessons are delivered online in a calm, structured, and supportive environment, tailored to each student’s individual needs and goals. I begin by understanding what the student is working on, whether that is exam preparation, coursework, or improving general writing skills, and then build sessions around clear, manageable objectives.
A typical lesson may include close analysis of texts, guided discussion, and focused writing practice. I place a strong emphasis on developing clear arguments, improving essay structure, and helping students express their ideas with confidence and precision. Where appropriate, I also provide feedback on written work and practical strategies for improvement.
I adapt my teaching style to suit different learning approaches, ensuring that students feel comfortable asking questions and working at their own pace. My aim is not only to help students improve their grades, but to develop a deeper understanding of literature and stronger, more confident writing skills over time.
My experience in literary analysis comes from my academic background, including a BA in English Literature and Creative Writing and a Master’s in English Literature with The Open University. This academic perspective is complemented by my work as a published poet, with poetry appearing in both online and print publications. Together, these experiences allow me to offer fresh insight into literary texts and provide clear, actionable feedback to support student progress.
I also aim to build strong working relationships with students, helping them feel more confident in their abilities and more engaged with their studies over time. I believe these sessions should be led by the students needs/goals and I will endeavour to do all I can to support them.
