My teaching method is focused on helping students truly understand maths rather than simply memorising methods. Every student learns differently, so I first identify the areas they struggle with most and then tailor lessons to target those weaknesses directly. I believe confidence is built through understanding, which is why I break questions down step-by-step and guide students towards finding solutions themselves.

During lessons, I encourage active problem solving and discussion so students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as part of the learning process. Once a concept is understood, we practise a range of questions together to strengthen both accuracy and confidence. I also place strong importance on developing exam technique and logical thinking skills, especially for GCSE and 11+ preparation.

A key part of my teaching style is the “little and often” approach. Instead of overwhelming students with large amounts of work, I provide smaller, regular homework tasks designed to reinforce skills over time. This helps students retain knowledge more effectively and build strong foundations early. Over time, this consistent practice turns difficult topics into familiar ones and allows students to approach maths with far greater confidence and independence.

In addition, I aim to create a positive and supportive environment where students feel motivated to improve and take pride in their progress. I understand that maths can sometimes feel intimidating, so I focus on making lessons engaging, approachable, and rewarding. By combining patience, consistent practice, and personalised support, I help students not only improve their grades but also develop long-term problem-solving skills that will benefit them throughout their education.
