The content of my lessons is entirely up to the needs and interests of my students. During our first meeting we can discuss individual interests and why they want to learn English. From that conversation I will structure my lessons to best meet the goals of my students. I believe an important element of learning a language is giving students variety in teaching; for example, making sure there is a diversity in activities; listening to songs as well as book narrations; reading formal news reports as well as social media posts, etc. However, I will always be open to feedback and suggestions from my students to make sure I am adapting to their strengths and weaknesses.
I speak Indonesian, Spanish and beginner Turkish. I have also taken short courses for beginner Italian, Javanese and Dutch. I was born in Indonesia, spent my childhood in Singapore, finished my schooling in the USA, and earned my university degree in the UK. I have had a lot of experience as a new language learner and know how various structures, grammar, and syntax can differ and where.
I know how difficult but rewarding learning a new language can be and I have seen how necessary and universal the English language has become to access opportunities in education and the workforce. I am looking forward to providing any help and guidance to anyone who may need it.
