I believe the best way to learn Biology is to understand why things happen, rather than simply memorising facts.
Every lesson is tailored to the student's goals, whether that's improving subject knowledge, preparing for GCSE or A-Level exams, or developing stronger revision and exam techniques. I encourage students to ask questions throughout the lesson and focus on understanding concepts before applying them through exam-style questions and practice problems.

A typical lesson begins by identifying the student's goals and reviewing any topics they have found challenging since our last session. Together, we set a clear objective for the lesson so that students know exactly what they will achieve by the end. I then introduce new concepts using diagrams, annotated notes and worked examples, breaking complex ideas into manageable steps before reinforcing understanding through exam-style questions and active recall. Throughout the lesson, I encourage students to explain concepts in their own words, helping them build confidence and identify any gaps in understanding. We finish with a short review, personalised feedback and an agreed action plan for independent study before the next lesson.

I provide tailored revision resources, including concise notes, practice questions, diagrams, flashcards and study strategies that students can continue using outside our sessions. My aim is not only to improve subject knowledge but also to teach students how to learn effectively.

My background as an online English tutor has given me valuable insight into the science of learning itself.
