Step into the dramatic world of Baroque painting and learn the art of chiaroscuro—the powerful technique of using light and shadow to create depth, atmosphere, and emotion.

Each lesson begins with the most exciting part: building our scene together. Rather than copying a photograph, we’ll create a candid, story-driven composition inspired by the great Baroque painters. We’ll explore poses, props, lighting, and narrative, arranging a scene that feels natural, theatrical, and full of character.

Once our composition is set, we’ll move into the painting process, learning how to:

* Design strong light and shadow patterns
* Create dramatic focal points through contrast
* Build form and volume using tonal values
* Mix rich, harmonious oil paint colours
* Develop depth, atmosphere, and storytelling within a painting
* Understand the techniques used by Baroque masters while bringing your own creative voice to the work

Lessons are taught in a relaxed, encouraging environment where experimentation is welcomed and curiosity is celebrated. Whether you’re new to oil painting or looking to strengthen your classical painting skills, you’ll learn practical techniques while creating artwork that feels both timeless and personal.

Expect plenty of creativity, conversation, and a little theatrical flair as we transform everyday moments into striking Baroque-inspired paintings. After all, every masterpiece starts with a great story and a dramatic beam of light.
