I discuss with the student exactly what aspects of a topic they want to cover, and prepare concise, bullet-point notes on those areas. I share the notes with the student and walk them through what I’ve written, giving more explanation and giving them time to jot down any other notes they want to take. I summarise everything one more time and then answer their questions. Throughout this, I may be sharing my screen to draw diagrams, flow charts and/or graphs to better elaborate on certain points.
From there, it depends on how that student learns best. I can quiz them on the material with questions I will have prepared beforehand, I can ask them to explain back to me what they’ve learned, or, because some like to study in their own time at their own pace, we can move on to the next topic.
