I aim to create a supportive environment, uplifting each student and raising their confidence. Taking problems one step at a time, we ensure there are no feelings of overwhelm, rather equipping each child with the necessary building blocks they need to extrapolate information from simpler problems, to larger ones. I have worked with many students over the course of five years, and I understand how daunting mathematics can seem when one is not taught in a way that is tailored to their needs. It is my duty as a private tutor to dispel this unease, making mathematics enjoyable for all.
Now studying to be a neuroscientist, I myself have gained much experience in the field of mathematics, not only working with complicated formulas, but learning how to relate them to the world around me, not only increasing my fascination with the subject, but making it more relatable to daily life. It is my belief, that this is missing from the school curriculum, as children are taught how to use various equations, but are not taught why they are important, reducing interest and motivation.
Throughout the course of our lessons, we would identify both strengths and weaknesses, using them to fill informational gaps. I will observe how the student works, whether that is through visual, auditory, or kinaesthetic routes, no two lessons are to be the same. As we proceed, if we find that our method of learning is not beneficial, we will keep altering our lesson plan, ensuring that every child gets the most out of their lessons.
