Advert description
I am a classically trained painter and senior art teacher, educated in Florence, where I developed a strong academic foundation in drawing and painting.
I studied at the Florence Academy of Art as a scholarship student under Daniel Graves, and at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze. This training gave me a disciplined approach rooted in observation, structure, and tonal values principles that continue to guide both my work and my teaching.
Over the past twenty years, I have combined professional artistic practice with teaching. Since 2014, I have been teaching in London at Heatherley’s School of Fine Art and Hampstead School of Art, working with adult students across a wide range of levels. My teaching focuses on clarity and method: I demonstrate, then guide students step by step, helping them build confidence, accuracy, and independence.
Earlier in my career, I taught in Italy, including at the International School of Comics in Florence and at a fine art school in Cecina. These experiences helped me develop a flexible teaching approach, adapting to different types of students and learning environments.
Alongside teaching, I have maintained an active exhibition practice, with solo and group exhibitions in Italy, the UK, Ireland, and the United States. This ongoing professional activity informs my teaching, keeping it grounded in real artistic practice.
My core focus is on figure drawing, portraiture, and classical oil painting, supported by a strong knowledge of anatomy and the sight-size method. I teach both one-to-one and group classes, always aiming to give students a clear and reliable process they can apply independently.
Ultimately, my aim is to combine traditional academic training with effective, structured teaching, helping students not only improve their skills, but also develop the confidence to work on their own.
