My lessons are structured and practical, combining demonstration with individual guidance. I focus on observation, proportion, and tone, helping students build a clear method step by step. With over ten years of teaching experience in London, I adapt each lesson to suit both beginners and more advanced students.
Each session typically begins with a short demonstration, where I explain the key principles behind the exercise, such as how to place the drawing, measure proportions, and organise tonal values. This is followed by guided practice, where students apply the method themselves while receiving one-to-one feedback.
I place strong emphasis on developing visual accuracy and understanding structure, rather than relying on guesswork. Students are encouraged to work methodically, building their drawings or paintings from simple forms towards more complex details. This approach helps them gain control and confidence in their work.
Lessons are designed to be progressive, allowing students to see clear improvement over time. I also adjust the level of difficulty depending on the group, ensuring that each student is appropriately challenged without feeling overwhelmed.
My aim is to provide students with a reliable working method that they can apply independently, enabling them to continue improving beyond the classroom. I also place importance on developing students’ ability to self-correct and critically assess their own work. Through consistent feedback and repetition, they learn to recognise mistakes and adjust their approach.
