Athene Richford

I hold a PhD in international law and legal theory. I have extensive experience of teaching a supervising students at undergraduate and post-graduate levels in public international law. I cover all areas of public international law but I also specialize in trade and labour law. As a lecturer I have experience of designing and delivering classes on complex areas to large groups of students. As a tutor I have worked extensively with smaller groups of student to really facilitate more granular discussion about legal matters and how to approach problem and essay questions. For the past 4 years I have been an LLM Dissertation supervisor where I engage with students one-on-one to give personalized support and feedback on their dissertation topics. I have also tutored undergraduate students in EU, Land, and Equity and Trusts (England and Wales).
As well as my teaching I have published my own work and have been on the editing team for several academic collected works, and been a sub-editor for academic reviews for the European Journal of International Law and the European Yearbook of International Economic Law. In those roles, I have dealt with many hundreds of pages of manuscripts and had the task of proofreading and editing the content for readability but also accuracy.
I enjoy working with students and I always aim to offer compassionate support for students who may find the process of writing a piece of work daunting. I provide thorough and professional feedback tailored to the individual needs of whoever I am working with. I look forward to working with you!
