My aim as a maths tutor is to help students develop both their mathematical understanding and their confidence. I believe that maths becomes much easier when you understand the reasoning behind a method rather than simply memorising steps, so I focus on explaining concepts clearly and breaking difficult topics down into manageable parts.
I can provide tutoring tailored to the student’s current ability, whether they are struggling with particular topics, preparing for exams, or simply looking to improve their overall performance. Lessons can include working through examples together, identifying gaps in understanding, practising exam-style questions and developing effective problem-solving techniques.
I particularly value an interactive approach. Rather than doing all the work for the student, I encourage them to think through problems themselves, ask questions and explain their reasoning. This helps them become more independent and gives me a better understanding of where they need support.
