I believe every child can excel given the right environment. Many students are anxious about mathematics, often claiming they aren't wired for it or disliking the subject entirely. During my lessons, I aim to challenge these preconceptions and foster an environment where self-confidence is instilled, engaging their curiosity through open communication and questioning. Central to this is the patience I bring to my teaching, as I understand that learning and understanding take time.
A particular thing that separates me from other tutors is that I often like to go beyond the standard curriculum, and help students understand why a certain rule or law works. I believe that true learning only occurs not through rote memorisation, but through conceptual understanding, and this in turn will develop their mathematical maturity, logical reasoning, and critical thinking skills.
After every lesson, I provide parents with a breakdown of their child's strengths and weaknesses, focusing on the areas they could improve and how to go about it. Mathematics rewards consistent practice, so this feedback is key to keeping your child progressing between sessions and getting the most out of their education.
