My lessons are calm, structured, and designed to help every student feel confident in their English skills. I begin each session with a short warm-up or retrieval activity to check understanding and revisit previous learning. This helps students settle in quickly and gives me a clear picture of what they’re ready for that day.
The main part of the lesson focuses on the student’s individual goals, whether that’s reading comprehension, writing skills, SPaG, or GCSE English preparation. I use clear modelling and step-by-step explanations so students can see exactly how to approach a task. We then move into guided practice, where I support them as they try the skill themselves, gradually building independence.
As a trainee English teacher and fully DBS-checked tutor, I draw on my classroom training and one-to-one experience to adapt each lesson to the student’s pace, personality, and confidence level. I work with learners who need reassurance, structure, or challenge, and I always aim to create a positive, encouraging atmosphere where they feel safe to ask questions and make mistakes. I also incorporate regular retrieval practice, exam-style questions, and targeted feedback to help students build long-term confidence and secure progress.
Every lesson ends with personalised feedback and clear next steps so students know exactly what they’re working towards. I also keep parents updated on progress and areas of focus when appropriate. My aim is for every learner to leave feeling capable, motivated, and proud of their progress, with a growing understanding of how to approach English independently.
