I am currently studying Physics with Astrophysics at University College London (UCL), having achieved A* in A-Level Mathematics, A in Physics and A in Economics. I would like to teach A-Level and GCSE Maths and Physics. I am an ambitious, hardworking and outgoing individual with a genuine passion for education, and I would love the opportunity to use my academic knowledge and tutoring experience to help students develop both their ability and confidence.

I have accumulated over 350 hours of tutoring experience. I have worked with students aged 6-17 across different abilities and stages of education. One of the most rewarding aspects of tutoring for me has been becoming a positive part of my students’ academic journeys. I particularly enjoy seeing the moment when a student who initially struggles with a concept begins to understand it and gains confidence in their own ability. I aim to make lessons engaging, supportive and tailored to the individual student rather than simply focusing on delivering information. I also did mentoring at my sixth form in year 12 where I advised year 11 through their GCSE. Not only did we go through content but I learnt the importance of giving the student more confidence by allowing them to think for themselves. For example, when we were working on a question together I first allowed them to try and answer it themselves and then I would give them hints in the right direction instead of simply feeding them the answer and telling them to remember the method. This helps students gain confidence in working independently and start thinking about how to approach a question which is crucial for exams. Also from this experience I acknowledged that because I had recently gone through the same things as the year 11 I could relate to them more and my mind was more fresh in the concepts in GCSE. So I believe I am the perfect candidate to teach A level maths and physics because I have only recently completed my A levels. I would be able to not only teach content but also advise them during exams from my own experience which I think is very valuable.

My experience with young people has also been shaped by being the eldest of 4 siblings. Growing up in a family with younger siblings has given me many years of experience being patient, responsible and understanding with children of different ages and personalities. Combined with my tutoring experience, this has helped me develop strong communication skills, patience, resilience and the ability to adapt my approach when something is not working for a student.

I am a kind, honest and dependable person and I take the responsibility of working with students very seriously. I want the students I teach to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and learning at their own pace. At the same time I want to encourage my students to challenge themselves and recognise their own potential.

Alongside my studies, I am working towards my long term ambition of becoming an aerospace engineer in aerodynamics. I am very passionate about maths and physics because of the way it can be applied to real world engineering problems. I believe tutoring is not only an opportunity to share my knowledge, but also a way of developing the communication, leadership and mentoring skills that will remain valuable throughout my career.

I would be delighted to bring my enthusiasm, academic ability, resilience and tutoring experience to your organisation. I am confident that I would be a committed and positive tutor who genuinely cares about the progress and wellbeing of the students I work with.
