I have spent more than three years lecturing Psychology at Nottingham Trent University, a research-active university with one of the largest Psychology departments in the UK. Here I have lectured and supported learning in relation to critical and analytical thinking, research methods (both qualitative and quantitative), research project supervision, data literacy and analysis, and some specialist lectures on the psychology of sleep and dreaming (my specialist area of expertise).

In my lessons, I aim to make learning both enjoyable and interesting. To achieve this, I enjoy setting interactive tasks that can get students talking to one another, facilitating active collaborative learning and mutual peer support. I use a range of resources such as interesting videos to discuss, insightful analogies, and occasional game-like activities and quizzes to help reinforce learning.

I am a big believer in bringing psychological knowledge and learning into everyday life and practice, using it to help understand and solve real-life problems (what is known as psychological literacy), and to benefit students' own personal development.

I prompt my students to learn and process information deeply, often through questioning and seeking students' own ideas and thoughts on the subject material they are studying, so prepare to answer questions! I find this to be a great way of learning and fostering independent and creative thinking, as well as reinforcing learning through the power of retrieval. I will not give you the direct answers, but rather encourage you to explore the range of possible answers that exist in the complex field of Psychology, supporting you in making your arguments and forming your conclusions.
