My teaching philosophy is built upon the belief that singing should be a personal and deeply engaging journey. Rather than enforcing a rigid, traditional curriculum, I design every lesson around the specific interests of my students, using the contemporary artists and musical styles they genuinely love to teach essential vocal techniques. By using their favourite music as a foundation, lessons feel vibrant and inspiring rather than like a chore, which keeps young singers motivated to improve their pitch, breath control, and vocal range.
A central part of my method involves encouraging students to be completely open with their emotions. Vocal technicality can only carry a piece so far, it is the emotional vulnerability of the performer that gives a song true depth and connects with an audience. I work closely with students to help them explore the story behind the lyrics, guiding them to channel their own life experiences, joys, and challenges into their performances to make their singing resonate on a much deeper level.
As a teenager myself, I possess a distinct advantage in this field because I completely understand the world that children and teens are navigating today. I speak their language and relate to their social and academic pressures without the generational disconnect that often exists with older instructors. This shared perspective allows me to build quick rapport and establish a relaxed, non-judgmental environment. Students feel safe to take risks, express big emotions, and discover their authentic artistic voices under the guidance of someone who truly understands them.
