I learned 4 languages before the age of 11 and this wasn’t through intense studying or anything of the sort, which to be honest, is what people usually assume learning a language is. I simply learned by being immersed in the language and culture by living and talking to people that couldn’t understand me and that I also, couldn’t understand. From my experience with working children, is that they are almost like sponges and they absorb new information much faster than adults and this is scientifically (and logically) backed.
As a result, my style of teaching is exactly the same - I will speak Spanish for the majority of the duration of my lessons and therefore, English will be left at home! I have worked with kids as a football coach in a really chaotic and active environment so I can bring some of that energy, to the classroom/learning environment. Being only 21 myself, I know and understand children’s opinions towards learning, I know that every child is completely different and I am able to see from their perspective because I was one not too long ago! My lessons will be fun and will not feel like a chore for the students. I look to provide an environment in which my students can engage on their own accord, as it creates a great foundation for learning. This is the same approach I used whilst coaching, after realising that other methods were rendered useless once I began to incorporate this ideology.
