I recommend that we start with a 2 hour meeting for you to outline the project and allow me to ask questions to help me come up with some recommendations.
I ask that this 2 hour session occurs in one go, for cohesion and clarity.
I will then go away and undertake any reading/research necessary to assist you.

I suggest that we then meet again for me to outline my suggested research pipeline for you.
I am likely to have some alternative options for each step so you may like to go away with the plan and have a think about which combination of steps you would like to move forward with, in which case I suggest that we have a 2 hour pipeline outline meeting, followed by a further 2 hour session once you have mulled over the options.
If you are a "thinking on the fly" kind of person, you may prefer to roll this into one mega-meeting where I intro my pipeline and you hash out the various options then and there, leaving after 4 hours with a more concrete pipeline in your hand.

To get to this point will require a minimum of 6 contact hours with me. This is the smallest amount of time over which I believe I could be useful to you.

If you want further guidance on any of the recommended steps in the pipeline, or get stuck and want technical help carrying out the imaging or analysis steps, I can be booked on a hourly basis for that support (including debugging of analysis code in ImageJ or Matlab).

(I am also able to write quantitative image analysis software in ImageJ and Matlab but this service is separate from the tutoring I offer.)

My lesson style will be more like your friendly neighbourhood postdoc who actually has the time to hear you out and offer expertise! I will make recommendations and explain them to you - you will then have the final say about what you move forward with. I will treat you like the independent researcher you are, empowering you to thoroughly plan good quality research.
