My approach to teaching will focus on creating a supportive, engaging and inclusive learning environment where all learners feel confident to participate and develop their knowledge, skills and understanding. I will use a variety of teaching methods and resources to meet different learning needs, recognising that learners may understand and retain information in different ways.
I will provide clear verbal guidance by explaining tasks step by step and using language that is appropriate to the learner’s level of understanding. I will check understanding regularly through questioning, discussion and informal assessment. Where necessary, I will repeat, rephrase or simplify instructions and give learners additional time and support.
I will also use visual guidance to make learning easier to understand. This may include demonstrations, pictures, diagrams, videos, presentations, examples and visual prompts. Demonstrating a task before asking learners to complete it will allow them to see the correct process and understand what is expected of them.
To reinforce learning, I will use worksheets and workbooks containing a range of activities, questions, written exercises and opportunities for reflection. These resources will allow learners to practise their knowledge, consolidate their learning and refer back to key information when needed. I will adapt worksheets and resources where appropriate to support individual abilities and learning needs.
I will use practical activities wherever possible to help with understanding.
Each student will get a checklist and a progress chart so they can reflect on their growth and keep track of what they need to work on and what they're already good at.
