I have over 20 years experience in fashion design and sewing - my qualifications include a BA (Hons) in Fashion Design and a MA in Art History. I have worked in industry for an independent slow fashion brand for over 2 years and ran my own business for over 6 years creating clothing according to individual client commissions. My business specialised in recreating vintage items - making patterns from the items without taking them apart and making a new version in the client's choice of fabric.
I can personalise lessons to your skill and knowledge level - from the basics of using a sewing machine or reading a sewing pattern, to learning new techniques so your garments have a more polished finish. If you want to learn the basics of fashion design and research, this is something I can offer, as well as teaching you how to refine your designs if you're working at a more advanced level.
Alternatively if you'd like to learn about a specific era of fashion history, I'm more than happy to provide more of a structured 'lecture' style lesson, teaching you about the subject of your choice. Or if you'd like to learn more about how to run a sustainable clothing business, I have a wealth of experience and knowledge on this topic.
I am available to work with you online via Zoom, or if you live in the Greater Manchester (UK) area I can travel to provide you with an in-person session. Sessions will be relaxed and personable, I try not to use jargon as I believe that fashion design should be accessible to all.
