Hi, I'm Angie.
I've been teaching for 15 years, and been subject lead in my small, independent school in Devon.
I have mainly taught the OCR 21st Century syllabus in that time, but I've also taught OCR Gateway and AQA. I'm very patient, I like to apply biological concepts to individual interests and I enjoy creating my own resources. I'm used to teaching small groups and providing tailored individual support, using active learning techniques for learners to really process the content. My school was proactive during the Covid lockdown; the whole school moved to online teaching overnight, and I have kept my Google Classrooms and online delivery developed during this time, so I'm happy to teach online or in person. Many of my past students have achieved top grades, including A* but I have also successfully coached less able students to gain a pass. I believe in completing plenty of practical work, and all of my A level students have achieved the practical endorsement. My inspiration to pursue Biology was watching documentaries by Sir David Attenborough and my passion for horses, although my specialism and particular interest is now genetics, inheritance and DNA. I have a rare breed Kooikerhondje dog, Holly, who accompanies me to school and often features in my lessons. Biology is simply the most important subject in the world. It will be a Biologist who finds a vaccine to the next pandemic, clones an endangered species to save it from extinction, solves world food shortage, cures cancer or examines life from another planet!
