I have been a trained violinist for over 15 years and started teaching 5 years ago. I teach all genres from classical to jazz to pop and more. I teach all beginners of any age and advancing students in primary and secondary school levels. I always lay down a classical foundation and technique to progress properly on the violin, but always ask the student any interests or genres or songs they personally would like to learn. I customize the curriculum foe each student using Suzuki Method as basis but will detour to other books and methods depending on the students need. I make sure to provide encouragement and maintain proper correction and explanation when mistakes are made.
I've helped many students get into local orchestras and programs. I also share moments from my personal performance career to show how much my violin and music have made a positive impact on my life. I also tend to dive into the music theory to not only apply it to violin but just general concepts of different key modes, rhythms, and other theory teachings. I also regularly ask questions about how the student felt about their performance and enforce self-critic in a positive matter, help teach them how to hear and recognize issues before I mention them. This will help them in their own practice outside of the lesson. I make sure to provide a satisfying and enjoyable environment to further student's study of the violin and music.
