Amy Williams

Hi students, my name is Amy, I am 30 years old and from England. I have been teaching for many years, starting when I was travelling Colombia, starting as a volunteer in small villages with 1-1 students, then progressing to acadamies in the Amazon teaching classes of up to 40 students, mainly ages 4-18. When I returned home I completed my TEFL course and began teaching English online. I did this for 2 years and I loved every minute of it, interacting with students all over the world of all ages and abilities. I love to guide and support people to better themselves and their language skills. I am a friendly, patient and understanding person, who will help and empathise with any struggles and lack of confidence you have with my language. You can have faith in me, feeling comfortable and relaxed in my classes as we are both here to help and learn from each other.
I have a patient and slow approach to my classes, depending on the students ability, I like to use a variety of teaching styles as each individual is different. I like to make my classes interactive as I believe this is a good way to learn and retain information. It makes the classes interesting and can lead to interesting discussions which can help develope students communcation skills and also help with a deeper understanding. I encourage students to ask questions, to think creatively and guide them to find the answers themselves, I find this is more effective as the students tend to remember the lesson better. Of course, it isn’t always possible to apply this style, to which I can easily adapt to suit the classroom. My goal is to keep engagement and motivation high and make sure that we progress.
