Hello! I am a friendly, passionate tutor who really enjoys the magic of learning Japanese. I love to share this enthusiasm with my students in lessons tailored to their individual language learning goals. I have experienced living in Japan for 3 years, 1 year on a study abroad exchange at Nagoya University and 2 years as a JET programme ALT teaching English at schools in Toyama prefecture. I have achieved JLPT N2 during that time.

My lessons are suited to beginner learners, perhaps people who are looking to travel to Japan and pick up some of the language, preparing for a study abroad placement or just want to learn for the fun and challenge. I can tailor the lessons to the textbooks and resources students may already be using or can suggest other ways to structure learning. Most of my students use the Genki textbook (3rd edition) and really enjoy it.

Amy helped me learn Japanese for a trip which didn't only include speaking and understanding but also really useful tips and insight into Japanese culture and expectations. I wouldn't have had nearly as good a time without this! She is patient, clear and works with wherever you're starting at to build confidence and enjoyment in learning, thank you Amy!

Amy is without doubt the best tutor I could have picked to start my journey of learning Japanese. She is patient, encouraging and makes the learning process much less daunting than I anticipated. Ive had 4 months of lessons so far, I feel like I have a good understanding of the language and am really happy with my progress so far. I would highly recommend Amy to anyone who is looking to learn a new language or improve their skill set.
