I am happy to tutor a group of students or individuals, from complete beginner level to advanced. I tend to vary my lessons to avoid repetition. I will provide structured grammar lessons to improve technical fluency, while also incorporating games to eliminate the anxiety that many students, including myself once, can feel about learning a second language. My experience tutoring so far has comprised of one to one tutoring with an intermediate level student. The lessons had a focus around identifying gaps in my student's technical grammar, and focusing on a weak point each week while also incorporating an element of the language that she enjoyed more, in order to make the task seem less daunting. As well as grammar excercises and games, I incorporated comprehension excercises to strengthen her reading, writing, and listening skills, alongside practicing speaking in a very low pressure environment. I also taught her a range of new tenses, and over the few months that I tutored her she progressed not only in her technical ability to speak French, but also in her confidence. I believe that a lack of confidence in speaking a second language is one of the biggest barriers that many students face. I experienced it myself; I experienced the most improvement when I had the confidence to practice French in real life situations, so I intend to make my tutoring sessions something that my students can look forward to each week and leave feeling a sense of achievement, no matter their level of language.
