My lessons are structured yet flexible, designed around each student’s individual needs, goals, and learning styles. At the start, I assess current understanding and specific areas to focus on, ensuring lessons are always purposeful and effective. I will then focus on building a strong understanding of the subject (the relevant texts, themes, analysis, and assessment objectives) through clear explanations of key concepts with examples, before applying this knowledge through exam-style questions and practice (both guided and individually).

For English, each lesson typically combines close analysis of key passages with discussion of themes, characters, and authorial methods, helping students develop thoughtful, perceptive interpretations. I will then guide students through the process of turning these thoughts into confident and polished essays, from planning to structuring the arguments and integrating quotations smoothly. For Maths, I will similarly focus on explaining key concepts and taking students through the methodology, and then tackling exam questions. I place a strong emphasis on understanding why and how something works, rather than memorisation alone, as this allows students to apply their knowledge more effectively in exams. Alongside this, I help students develop strong exam skills, including how to approach different question types, manage time effectively, and avoid common mistakes.

Having experience tutoring younger students at a school, I understand how to explain concepts clearly and adapt my teaching style to suit different learning approaches. I have also just been through the exam process myself and achieved top grades (10 Grade 9s at GCSE and 4 A*s at A-Level), so I have up to date knowledge and techniques to maximise results. My lessons are interactive and supportive, creating a comfortable environment to encourage confidence and questions, while maintaining a strong focus on exam technique and the application of your knowledge directly. I aim to challenge students appropriately, helping them build academic ability and self-belief, so they can consistently perform at their best.
