I have previously given tutoring lessons on A-Level Biology as a peer mentor in which I assisted with exam technique and learnt how to approach difficult topics in alternative ways where students needed explanations delivered in a way they would personally understand. In lessons to students I use tailored recapping strategies for each individual based on strengths on weaknesses previously identified at the beginning of each lesson. Throughout the lesson I explore a variety of topics to identify areas of improvement which I will highlight at the end and set a piece of work specific to these struggles. I will highlight key exam techniques and set tailored practice exam questions with targets and future goals. If students struggle with revision methods I can provide assistance in improving motivation, giving resources and methods for revision techniques that may not be explored in schools, due to my experiences in taking these specific exams and creating methods that have helped myself and other students I tutored in the past. My skills are advantageous as I understand the examination systems in both GCSE and A-Level Biology thoroughly and excelled in both exams. In addition I am in the process of completing my Bsc Biology degree which means the core information and strategies helpful for specific content is fresh in my head. This allows me to deliver adaptive, fresh techniques than more senior tutors in this subject may offer due to my understanding of both my in depth understanding of Biology and my knowledge of how to achieve excellent grades in Biology examinations.
