Amanda D'souza

I am a secondary science teacher with more than 25 years of international teaching experience, including extensive experience teaching IB, GCSE/IGCSE, A-Level and Ontario curricula. I have been an IB Biology Examiner since 2013 and have also worked as a Head of Science.

I tutor Biology and Chemistry, with particular expertise in IB Biology and Chemistry. I also support students with exam preparation, exam technique, Internal Assessments, Extended Essays and academic writing.

My lessons are highly personalised. I first identify the areas where a student is struggling, then focus on building genuine understanding rather than memorising information. I use targeted questioning, worked examples, exam-style questions and past-paper practice to help students apply what they know and improve the way they communicate answers.

I place a strong emphasis on exam technique, including command terms, interpreting questions correctly, structuring responses, showing calculations clearly and identifying exactly what examiners are looking for.

I work with students who need ongoing weekly support as well as those preparing for specific tests or final examinations. My aim is to help students become more confident, independent and effective learners.

Lessons are online, and I work with students internationally.
