Hi! My name is Alyssa and I am new to FindTutors, but I have previous tutoring experience when volunteering as a CoachBright Biology Tutor!
I had the responsibility to organise engaging weekly session content for my student studying A-Level Biology. I was patient in teaching difficult themes and actively listened to the student on their worries about the topics, making sure the sessions were personalised to their understanding. This positive tutoring experience demonstrated how much I enjoy teaching others about biology, and I love seeing the growth in confidence my students have in their subject from the beginning of tutoring to the end of the programme.

Previously in my undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science, I took up the role as a Peer Assisted Learning (PALS) leader where I facilitated and taught academic sessions to help students understand biomedical concepts. I displayed transferable skills such as time management with balancing this leadership role with my studies, and organisation with preparing session plans and topics to go over. I took suggestions from students on which concepts they struggled with and tailored the sessions to their weaknesses for maximal improvement. I translated complex topics into digestible explanations for fellow students using presentations, and used my creativity to generate group activities to support learning retention in the format of games!
